Too many cooks in the kitchen

Just look at the photo of the road below for the next 6 hours and that’s pretty much what it’s like to drive across the state of Kansas. It’s beautiful but after the first hour, it’s like you’ve kind of seen it already. After a very long and uneventful drive across Kansas, we saw that terrific little sign welcoming us “home.”

Then after driving another few hours across eastern Colorado, which is pretty much like driving across Kansas, we caught a glimpse of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. These are terrible pictures, I know but after 8 hours your vision gets a little blurry.

We arrived in Denver to see some old college friends and meet the newest addition to the “family”, Zayne, who was brought home from China last spring. We were so happy to get to meet him and love on him. What a blessing he is to all of us!

We had breakfast at Ramu and Veronica’s house one morning.  All three of the guys hovered around the stove preparing hollandaise sauce, not a single one of them agreeing on how it should be done. What you can’t see in the picture is that Veronica was also flipping pancakes and I was cooking bacon all on the same stovetop. It was like a circus. Kristen, the only smart adult there, busied herself reading books to the kids and guarding the balcony from the climbing toddlers.

It was so good to see our peeps in Denver and who are also some of our oldest friends. Only a couple of mountain passes away from us, we’re practically neighbors now!

After a quick visit in Denver, we motored the rest of the way back to our beloved Durango. Man’s it was good to be home!
