Super size me

Because French croissants, Amsterdam’s fries served by the cone topped with mayo and Austria’s fried Weinerschnitzel wasn’t enough to super size my waist line, we came home to lots of BBQ, fried chicken and overall ridiculously sized portions of food.
Heading west through Missouri, we made a stop at one of America’s famous pitstops. Lambert’s, Home of the Throwed Rolls. Where the sweet tea is served by the gallon, the salads for one are enough to feed the entire family and they literally throw rolls across the restaurant to raised hands.
Some of our friends from Justin’s Mizzou grad school days gratefully hosted us for a brief night on our way cross country.

I ordered my salad sans meat but it was still more than I could eat. I think this was enough salad for the whole table of 9. So I ate the whole time and it never really looked any different than it did when they delivered it to the table. There are people heaping spoonfuls of fresh fried okra every time you turned around and of course, when you raise your hand they fast pitch dinner rolls across the room to you just in case the bread sombrero holding your salad wasn’t enough starch. Sometimes we caught them and sometimes they bounced off your neighbor’s head and landed splat right in the middle of your plate or into your vat of sweet tea.
We made our way to the hotel in downtown Kansas City. Justin conferenced, the boys swam and my office view was not too shabby.

Once the kids were thoroughly waterlogged, we relocated to the top floor of the hotel to the lounge where we enjoyed free food and drinks and a killer view of downtown.

Not sure how much of their reading they got done this afternoon.

Look at Mr. Hotness! Man, I’m one lucky girl.
Justin signed us up for the lounge access on the top floor of the hotel. Despite there being a lego land right next door (shhhhh! I didn’t even tell the boys) we managed to just enjoy our “first class” accommodations for the time being.
