Kühtai Skiing

As wintery as Saturday was, we were surprised to find that Sunday turned out the be completely clear. It was cold skiing in Kuhtai but so beautiful. Pockets of untouched powder in the off piste skiing, a freestyle park, and a huge valley to explore a top our favorite mode of transportation.

Innsbruck offers a direct ski bus to many of the nearby resorts for free to tourists. Turns out the one to Kuhtai doubles as a real public transport bus too so although it took us longer than we thought to get there, we still managed to have plenty of time to make our way across the two sides of the valley that make up the ski area.

We stopped at a mountain hut to warm up over a really delicious lunch. The food at these places is unbelievable. This particular day we learned that the beer and “wurts” specials end at 11 am. That means to get discounted beers, you have to drink them before 11 am. Seriously?! Gives a whole new meaning to the idea of drinking early. We arrived at 11:30, missed the beer special and went for a cold roast beef plate that was out of this world…  And we drank beer anyway. It’s still cheaper than coke even outside of the happy “breakfast” hour specials!
